Rooming-in or Day Nursery

It’s during the first hours following the childbirth that a deep relationship between the mother and her newborn baby starts to develop. At the same time their mutual physical contact will determine a future emotional bond.

Within the first 24 hours of life the newborn has to be close by the mother as long as possible. Consequently, also the mother can familiarize herself with her baby’s needs and rhythms. 

However, in Poliambulanza every women is free to decide whether to hold the baby or entrust him/her to the nursery’s personnel’s care.
