Check Up

 

 

Procedure

  • On Saturday mornings only, from7:00 am to 13:00 pm, proper tests and examinations, which usually take place at different times, are performed in a sole session.
  • Patients are greeted by a hostess, a reassuring presence who will therapeutically accompany and guide them throughout morning’s tests.
  • Patients have to fast in view of the first stage of the examinations performed.
  • Later, they can have breakfast and they are also given a newspaper.
  • Payment is required at the end, that is following the second and last stage of examinations.
  • The following Saturday, or even another day of the week , as agreed beforehand, patients can have a meeting with the doctor who will guide them understanding the Check-Up reports, providing medical advice or suggesting further treatment for any medical conditions.

Preparation

A list of the measures required to comply with a correct prescription of your Check-up’s examinations, as follows:

  • For blood and biological samples fasted patients are required;
  • For urine and feces analyses, the biological material has to be deposited previously at home (biological samples conteiners with all the instructions are available free of charge at Fondazione Poliambulanza’s samples centre or can be bought in any pharmacy);
  • In view of a Pap test you have to abstain from sexual activity during the previous 48 hours and avoid using any ova, vaginal gel or douches during the previous few days preceeding the sample;
  • For abdominal ultrasound, it is recommended to drink gradually a litre of water starting at least one hour before and holding urine till the end of the entire procedure;
  • For a check-up eye exam, it is recommended to remove contact lens 3 days before the exam and patients are invited to wear glasses in their place.

 

The preparation required for other examinations additional to General Check-Up ones shall be communicated at the time of booking.
